Scientific and Academic Contributions

Mr Tsang undertook post-doctoral research at the Birmingham and he was awarded his post Bachelor of Medicine higher doctorate MD for his investigation into Ischaemic Muscle Performance as a result. His ongoing research interests have involved many aspects of Cardiac Surgery but predominantly concern valve function and repair, aortopathy, aortic dissection surgery, aortic arch surgery, thoraco-abdominal aortic surgery and transcatheter interventions for valvular heart disease.

Mr Tsang’s national and international reputation in aortic surgery has resulted in him lecturing and teaching in the UK and internationally. He has operated in a charity capacity in Kenya and Myanmar. He currently chairs the UK Aortic Surgery Group and is lead for co-ordinating all of its clinical, research and educational activities in the UK.

He has supervised the research of numerous students and cardiac Surgical trainees. He has been the recipient of 3 research grants and Principal Investigator of 5 studies.
